From Warehouse to Your House in 30 Minutes of Order

From Warehouse to Your House in 30 Minutes of Order

Small drones that can deliver an order in 30 minutes are coming to a home near you.  The new service is named Amazon Prime Air. It will deliver your packages via an 8-propeller drones about the size of a remote-controlled airplane. It will carry shoebox-size plastic bins from fulfillment centers to customers' homes. As with many disruptive new services, it still requires more testing and clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration,  but could take to the skies by 2018 per Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

This gives the term Just In Time a whole new meaning.  Hopefully, some one will be home for the drop.

Lost Inside a Mall or Large Building?  Beacons are coming!

Beacons are poised to allow your mobile phone GPS systems to navigate indoors.  Basically, they are low cost bluetooth devices that will be placed throughout buildings.  These devices will communicate with your GPS.  A company called Estimote is already marketing the devices, which are sure to hit the mainstream.  There will be many uses for this technology aside from navigation. The figure below shows likely locations for beacons.
