uCertify Training

Test Prep Training

Recently, I reviewed several online IT certification courses. Having been an IT professor at several major colleges I was already familiar with Labsim, uCertify and several other computer based training module.  However, they have been improving and I took time to review their current state of evolution. I considered the lessons, labs, quizzes and readiness assessments for each system. Currently I hold A+, Network+, CCNA and PMP certifications. Therefore, I chose specifically to judge the networking module. After close evaluation the uCertify was found to be the most complete package and best training for computer networking. It included quizzes as well as two full exams that closely simulates the real exams and allowed students to track their readiness.

The Taxi Drone's are Here!

Since the beginning of sci-fi we have often wondered how long it will take inventors to create personal flying vehicles.  What's great about the EHang vehicle is that it is GPS equipped so the passenger doesn't have to be a pilot. These may just make the self driving car obsolete earlier than expected.  Nevada has already cleared them for test flights.  Hopefully, they will have a dual passenger vehicle soon.

Affordable Virtual Reality

Affordable Virtual Reality

The key to adoption of most new technologies is affordability.  If you own a Galaxy Note you already have the most expensive piece of the VR system from Samsung with the help of Oculus.

From Warehouse to Your House in 30 Minutes of Order

From Warehouse to Your House in 30 Minutes of Order

Small drones that can deliver an order in 30 minutes are coming to a home near you.  The new service is named Amazon Prime Air. It will deliver your packages via an 8-propeller drones about the size of a remote-controlled airplane. It will carry shoebox-size plastic bins from fulfillment centers to customers' homes. As with many disruptive new services, it still requires more testing and clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration,  but could take to the skies by 2018 per Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

This gives the term Just In Time a whole new meaning.  Hopefully, some one will be home for the drop.

Gone but not forgotten! Robots offer a way to keep our minds around for future generations.

Bina48's hardware was made by robot designer David Hanson over the course of three years for a cool $125,000 at the behest of the Terasem Movement Foundation's president and Bina's partner, Martine Rothblatt.

Lost Inside a Mall or Large Building?  Beacons are coming!

Beacons are poised to allow your mobile phone GPS systems to navigate indoors.  Basically, they are low cost bluetooth devices that will be placed throughout buildings.  These devices will communicate with your GPS.  A company called Estimote is already marketing the devices, which are sure to hit the mainstream.  There will be many uses for this technology aside from navigation. The figure below shows likely locations for beacons.

Google Poised to Launch the Robot Revolution

We have known for some time that the future will have robots and android machines involved in our everyday lives.  However, it often takes a major innovator like Google to accelerate technologies into the mainstream.  Recently, Google purchased seven robotics companies around the world and is clearly looking to take on a leadership position in this growing industry.

Per Google's Andy Rubin, “I feel with robotics it’s a green field,” he said. “We’re building hardware, we’re building software. We’re building systems, so one team will be able to understand the whole stack.”

More Than A Fashion Statement!

Everyone wants to live better, healthier lives. An Angel bracelet may help to make this possible. It monitors pulse, temperature, activity and blood oxygen level. Angel bracelets can send vital information to apps on your smartphone, laptop and soon to your treadmill.

Angel was designed with developers in mind. Currently most trackers for fitness and health are built for use by a single proprietary app, but Angel developers are opening up their protocols including the API and sensor data stream.  The future is clear.......

Bionic Exoskeletons

We have seen movies where people wear robot like armor or exoskeletons for lifting heavy objects, but this technology is getting close to home.  Paraplegics are starting to walk again and the Army is already finding use for the technology.  The future is clear.......                Exoskeletons in the news

This is an interesting video about the suits.

Sony's new HMZ-T3W might look like something from a 90s virtual-reality movie -- but some say wearing it is like watching a 750-inch TV:

There are currently no dedicated apps for this new device, but there soon will and as the price is reduced it will surely play a role in our future.  It has batteries and can connect to most any device including cell phones.
